MiXR

Description

The heart of the intervention room of a hospital nowadays is the X-Ray system, often shaped in a C-arc. This system can make 2D and 3D recordings of the internals of the patient. The design of this system is a huge challenge, considering the fact that it weights 1200 kg, and has a diameter of 1,5m. Next to the required accuracy, the safety is also one of the key design aspects.

The goal of the MiXR projects is to develop a new generation of X-Ray systems to:

  • Improve the image quality of 3D recordings
  • Improve the user friendliness
  • Improve the safety of the system

This will be achieved by introducing newly developed mechatronics and control and research how the user interaction can be optimized in the intervention room. Haptics is considered for this purpose.
