Digital Transformation & Sustainability, challenges and opportunities
In its third meeting, the Digital Transformation Community discussed the challenges they face in digital transformation and sustainability and explored opportunities for collaboration.

On June 21, 2024, the third meeting of the Digital Transformation Community was held at 果冻传媒). The central theme of this meeting was "Digital Transformation & Sustainability." During the event, several presentations were made and important insights were shared.

Data and Sustainability
In the first session, the focus was on Data and Sustainability. Challenges in collecting sustainability data were discussed, as well as the need for automation and integration of sustainability aspects into existing processes. Data standards and governance for sustainability were also discussed.
Security and Trust
The second session focused on Security and Trust. Participants discussed the importance of business value and data sharing within ecosystems. Blockchain and data clean rooms were mentioned as solutions to address trust issues. Finally, the use of synthetic data as an alternative to data sharing was discussed.

Measuring and Reporting Sustainability
Measuring and Reporting Sustainability is challenging. Small investments can bring big benefits, and KPIs help identify these opportunities. Benchmarking is needed to understand our current performance and plan future investments. Specific analyses, such as bottleneck analyses, are needed to identify sustainability costs. Translating regulations into KPIs is complex and requires accuracy.

The challenge of Twin Transformation
Organizations face the challenge of Twin Transformation (TT), where sustainability and digital transformation come together.
Companies must change their mindset to combine sustainability with digital transformation goals. New skills are needed to meet the challenges of this transformation. Poor alignment at the management level complicates this transition. Clear guidelines and strategy from top management are essential to effectively integrate sustainability and digital goals.

Twin Transformation also offers opportunities such as:
- Reinvention through crisis: Uncertainty about measurement and reporting can be seen as an opportunity to establish an architectural roadmap for TT goals.
- Awareness programs: Organizations can decipher external incentives and set up internal structures to deal with new developments
- Dynamic KPIs: New KPIs can not only comply with regulations, but also promote efficiency and sustainability.
- Shared responsibility: Mechanisms can be set up to share responsibility at different levels of management.
- Standardization and collaboration: Collaboration between companies can lead to clearer reporting standards.
- Integrated business models: Digital technologies and sustainability can be mutually reinforcing
