Mini-Symposium: Organic Aerogels

April 18, 2025

On Thursday, April 17, 2025, our research group had the pleasure of hosting a Mini Symposium on Organic Aerogels, featuring outstanding talks from leading experts in the aerogel community.

Dr. Stephanie Vivod from NASA鈥檚 John H. Glenn Research Center (USA) joined us virtually to share fascinating insights into the future directions of polymer aerogels for space applications.

Prof. Nicholas Leventis, representing Aspen Aerogels and the Missouri University of Science and Technology (USA), explored the critical role of crosslinking in aerogel materials and how it influences their properties and applications.

Rounding out the symposium, Prof. Irina Smirnova from Hamburg University of Technology (Germany) presented on process optimization in bio-aerogel production, offering a compelling overview of the transition from batch to continuous manufacturing methods.

The symposium highlighted the dynamic progress in aerogel research and sparked engaging discussions and new ideas.
