Researchers Yingqian Zhang and Isel Grau from the research group Information Systems (IS) are participating in the CoRDS: Confident data-driven Decision Support project. This project, funded by the prestigious MSCA Doctoral Networks program 2024, focuses on developing the next generation of AI-driven decision support tools. These tools will help organizations effectively and responsibly tackle complex decision-making problems, such as efficiently managing scarce natural resources and reducing their carbon footprint.

Collaboration

The CoRDS program is a collaboration between various academic partners, including renowned universities and research institutions. This collaboration ensures a broad range of expertise and a solid foundation for developing innovative solutions.

Data-Driven Optimization

Zhang and Grau will focus on integrating Machine Learning (ML) and Operations Research (OR) to create data-driven optimization tools. These tools combine the problem-solving capabilities of OR with the data analysis capabilities of ML, resulting in improved decision support. The goal is to deliver high-quality decisions to users in a short computational time while complying with government and industry standards for safety, transparency, traceability, and non-discrimination.

Smaller Footprint

This research is of great importance to society. At a time when organizations are facing challenges such as climate change and scarcity of natural resources, the CoRDS program offers solutions that contribute to a more sustainable future. By making more efficient use of resources and reducing CO2 emissions, organizations can reduce their ecological footprint and contribute to a healthier planet.

Innovative Tools

The current challenges in society, such as the need to manage natural resources more efficiently and reduce CO2 emissions, require innovative solutions. The CoRDS program addresses these challenges by developing AI-driven decision support tools that help organizations make responsible decisions. These tools are not only fast and efficient but also safe, transparent, and non-discriminatory, which is essential in the modern world.
