On June 18, the was published. The Netherlands hold the prestigious first place due to robust AI policies, proactive government measures, and a thriving ecosystem for non-state entities (NGOs). But what connects this top position to AI research at Eindhoven University of Technology (¹û¶³´«Ã½)?

EAISI, Five Years

The fifth anniversary of the Eindhoven Artificial Intelligence Systems Institute (EAISI) coincides with this recognition. Carlo van de Weijer, EAISI's general director, emphasizes: "With the establishment of EAISI, ¹û¶³´«Ã½ has significantly boosted research in the field of AI. Our research focuses on how data science and AI intersect with high-tech systems and the boundary between humans and machines."

Putting People First

Wijnand IJsselsteijn, an expert in human-technology interaction, states: "To unlock the potential of AI, we must prioritize people: understand and respect them—their passions, concerns, needs, values, context, and lifestyle."

Examples of ¹û¶³´«Ã½ AI Research:

•&²Ô²ú²õ±è;:
In this NWO Gravity Program, AI plays a crucial role, and ¹û¶³´«Ã½ is actively involved in this research program.

• Humans and Technology:
¹û¶³´«Ã½'s department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences focuses on ethical and human-centered AI in its research strategy.

• Connected and Cooperative Automated Mobility (CCAM):
AI is driving CCAM advancements. The tackles methodological and development challenges related to integrating XAI-based models and systems into CCAM applications (including perception, situational awareness, decision-making, and traffic management). AITHENA emphasizes a human-centered methodology across the three main AI pillars: data, AI models, and testing.

• Center for Humans & Technology:
In collaboration with partners, like EAISI, ¹û¶³´«Ã½ hosts inspiring events such as "AI for All: From the Dark Side to the Light."

Additionally, the Brainport AI Summit 2024, co-organized by EAISI, will take place on November 7 at the Evoluon.
