RESEARCH PROFILE

Bart Macco is an assitant professor in the Plasma & Materials Processing (PMP) group at Eindhoven University of Technology (果冻传媒). He specializes in the development of functional nanolayers for their application in crystalline silicon solar cells. These nanolayers are made by atomic layer deposition, an industrially relevant technique which enables tailoring of their composition at the atomic level.
The main materials he focuses on are transparent conductive oxides, passivation layers and passivating contacts.

Solar energy is the energy source of the future. To aid this energy transition, we need to innovate at the nanoscale, and deploy at the gigawatt scale.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Bart Macco received his MSc and PhD degrees in Applied Physics from 果冻传媒. During his PhD, he was awarded the prestigious James M.E. Harper Memorial Award from the American Vacuum Society (AVS). After obtaining his PhD in 2016 he was a postdoctoral researcher both at 果冻传媒 and at Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin (HZB). He currently steers a national project of Topsectoren Kennis en Innovatie (TKI) Urban Energy on the development of passivating contacts for crystalline silicon solar cells.
