Claudiu Savulescu

RESEARCH PROFILE
Dr. Claudiu Savulescu is a Marie-Sklodowska Curie postdoctoral fellow in the Multiscale Operations in Porous Media (MOPS) research team. His main work focuses on experimental diagnostics for the assessment of structural development of materials during phase change. He is currently developing a protocol to assess heat storage performance of phase change materials from the evolution of surface features during crystallization in paraffin waxes and plant-based waxes, such as soy and coconut waxes.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Dr. Claudiu Savulescu was awarded his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in February 2024. For his doctoral work, he worked on the investigation of paraffin wax inhibition in oil pipelines, by developing a novel experimental protocol which assessed the evolution of surface features during crystallization. Moreover, he holds a MEng degree in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London, United Kingdom.
After graduating his PhD, he worked for a year as a postdoctoral fellow in the Energy Technology group at TU Eindhoven, where he investigated surface features and surface energies of sintered ceramic membranes used for catalytic hydrogen production.
