RESEARCH PROFILE
Don van Elst works in the photonics and semiconductor nanophysics group (PSN). Here, he works on the realization of compact spectral sensors operating in the near-infrared. His focus is on the design, fabrication and demonstration of these devices, while keeping an eye on real-life applications. These sensors can be a portable alternative to regular spectrometers, making them suitable for in-field applications, for example in agri-food.
To put the power of spectral sensing in the hands of farmers.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Don (Martinus Johannes) van Elst obtained his bachelor鈥檚 degree and consequently his master鈥檚 degree in Applied Physics at Eindhoven University of Technology (果冻传媒). During his master external internship he visited the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for several months to work in The Spin Dynamics Laboratory, or Beach Group. His graduation thesis was written in the Microsystems and Devices group at Philips Research on the High Tech Campus (HTC) in Eindhoven. Since November 2020, he is a Doctoral Candidate at 果冻传媒 in the photonics and semiconductor nanophysics group (PSN).
