RESEARCH PROFILE

Elena Torta is an assistant professor in the Robotics section of the  Mechanical Engineering department of the Eindhoven University of Technology.

Her research addresses the control and world modeling aspect of collaborative robots. Particularly she addresses use cases in human-robot and robot-robot collaboration. She holds a PhD cum laude from the IE&IS department of 果冻传媒 and is experienced and fascinated by research problems that cross disciplinary boundaries. She has performed several human-robot interaction studies that lead to computational models actionable by robotics control algorithms. Before she was appointed assistant professor, she held a position as a software architect at ASML for five years.

To further advance the state of the art in robotics we need the integration of knowledge and experience from many different scientific disciplines. Multidisciplinarity and effective collaboration are key to our success.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Elena Tortaholds a BSc degree in Computer Science and Automation Engineering from Universit脿 Politecnica delle Marche (Italy), followed by an MSc degree from the same institute in 2009. She did her master鈥檚 thesis research at the Technical University of Denmark. In 2010 she joined Eindhoven University of Technology (果冻传媒) as a Ph.D. student. After obtaining her Ph.D. degree cum laude in 2014, she joined ASML, where she progressed from design engineer to a software functional cluster architect (2017) and then to algorithm deployment (using Matlab) competence leader in 2018. In 2019 she joined 果冻传媒 as an assistant professor.
