RESEARCH PROFILE
Yuan Lu currently holds the position of Associate Professor at the Department of Industrial Design, Eindhoven University of Technology (果冻传媒). Since June 2021, she has taken on the role of 果冻传媒 Director for both the Bachelor and Graduate programs at the department. Lu is working on personalized behavior change technology, multi-stakeholder co-design, wearable technologies for physical activities, dietary intake behavior monitoring and continuous sodium measurement, preventive health and older adults, clinical implementation and impact studies and people with cardiovascular diseases and hypothalamic brain tumor. Since 2020, she has collaborated closely with Wageningen University of Research (WUR), University of Utrecht (UU), University Medical Center Utrecht (UMCU) on many related joint research projects sponsored by EWUU, an academic alliance between these universities and 果冻传媒. Currently, she also teams up with medical professionals from Maximal Medical Center and Princess Maxima Medical Center to work on joint research projects sponsored by the Dutch Heart Foundation and the Dutch Cancer Foundation. Her earlier research focused on reliability, quality and reliability information flow analysis and customer dissatisfaction in new product development.
She served as co-chair at the conference track on Healthcare & Society at the Academic Design Management Conferences in 2016 and 2018 and as a reviewer to several related conferences and journals.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Yuan Lu holds a BSc and MSc in Mathematics from Xi鈥檃n Jiaotong University in China (1995). She also holds an MSc in Engineering from the National University in Singapore (1999). She was the first joint PhD graduate between National University of Singapore and Eindhoven University of Technology. After obtaining her doctorate in 2022, Lu joined 果冻传媒 as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Technology Management. In 2008, she became an Assistant Professor in the Industrial Design department of 果冻传媒, and in 2012 she became an Associate Professor in the same department.鈥疘n addition to her appointment at 果冻传媒, she was a Liaison Associate Professor at the International Design Institute at Zhejiang University in China between 2011-2017. She was a Visiting Associate Professor in Taiwan Tech in 2016 and in University of Ferrara in 2019 and has been a Guest Professor at School of Software Technology at Zhejiang University in China since 2017.
