Living Technologies for Societal Challenges
Synthetic biology can help address key challenges facing the planet and its population. Research in synthetic biology may lead to new technologies such as data storage on DNA, biomolecular computers or programmed cells that self-assemble at the sites of disease to repair damage. To achieve this goal, we employ a multidisciplinary approach that combines elements from DNA/RNA nanotechnology, genetic engineering, microengineering and the modelling and simulation of biomolecular networks.
