RESEARCH PROFILE
Carolina Recart is an architect by training with a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Washington, United States. Her doctoral research focused on investigating the unintended consequences of energy retrofits, particularly when overlooking the hygrothermal performance of the building envelope.
Currently, she is a Postdoctoral Fellow at 果冻传媒 in the Netherlands, where her work focuses on developing strategies to reduce energy demand in existing buildings. She investigates how occupants' energy practices can be effectively integrated into retrofitting processes. Her primary interest lies in improving the energy performance of residential buildings and exploring innovative future scenarios for energy consumption. Through her research, she aims to provide insights for energy-efficient retrofitting projects that aligns to the principles of low-energy use in buildings.
In addition to her research, she enjoys reviewing articles for peer-reviewed journals. As an early-career researcher, she serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Building Performance Simulation and actively participates in peer review for several other journals.
