Assistant Professor

Claudia Lopez Camara

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Claudia-F. L贸pez C谩mara graduated from her undergraduate studies in Chemical Engineering from the University Rovira i Virgili (URV) in Tarragona, Spain. During that time, she got research experience on spray-drying at the Membrane Technology innovation center (METEOR) and industrial experience at BASF SONATRACH PropanChem S.A. She was awarded with an Undergraduate Mobility Balsells Fellowship that allowed her to finalize her studies abroad at the University of California at Irvine (UCI) on the topic of microfluidics. Then, she obtained the Grant of Excellence Catalunya-La Pedrera to pursue her master studies in Nanotechnology and Nanoscience at the URV. At the end of her master studies, Claudia L贸pez C谩mara returned to UCI to complete her master project on numerical combustion under the advisory of Prof. Dunn-Rankin. Following that, she pursued her Ph.D. at the same laboratory at UCI, graduating in December 2020 with her dissertation titled 鈥淣umerical Study of Non-Premixed Methane/Air Flames Behavior under Different Body Forces: Buoyancy and Electric Field鈥. During her doctoral studies, Claudia L贸pez C谩mara engaged in various science communication activities, such as the Loh Down on Science radio program. Moreover, she pursued various international collaborations that led her to conduct research abroad at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), getting awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) - Intern Fellowship for the latter. From May 2021 to December 2023, Claudia L贸pez-C谩mara was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany), where she shifted from numerical to experimental work, specializing in the synthesis of nanomaterials using flame, plasma, and hot-wall reactors.

Claudia L贸pez-C谩mara has been appointed Assistant Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department in Eindhoven University of Technology (果冻传媒) since January 2024. Her current research focuses on the synthesis of nanomaterials for sensors and energy applications.
