Assistant Professor

Juli毛tte van Duijnhoven

RESEARCH PROFILE

Juli毛tte van Duijnhoven is an assistant professor within the Building Lighting group embedded in the unit Building Physics and Services of the department of the Built Environment (果冻传媒). She brings in expertise on measuring and evaluating lighting conditions in the built environment. She works on 1) developing and advancing methods to gather personal lighting conditions of individuals to further progress the insights on the effects of light on human health, performance, and wellbeing, 2) investigating factors that affect personal light exposure patterns, and 3) supporting end users to get exposed to the right light at the right time (through healthy buildings and/or healthy light exposure behavior). Her main aim is to create sustainable lighting solutions in the built environment incorporating the individual differences in light exposure patterns. She mostly focuses on (home) office environments. Juli毛tte is currently supervising three PhD students (one as part of the , one focusing on quantification methods for personal light exposure patterns, and one focusing on smart lighting systems). She has supervised two EngD trainees (one as part of the and one as part of the ). Additionally, she has been WP2 leader in the .

Within the 果冻传媒, Juli毛tte is member of the Health in the Built Environment team as well as member of the Intelligent Lighting Institute. Beyond committee work at the 果冻传媒, Juli毛tte is associate editor for the lighting journal and editor for the journal . Furhermore, Juli毛tte is active within the as member of and and within the  as member of the executive committee. Juli毛tte chaired the core team indoor lighting at the Dutch association of light () from 2020-2024.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Juli毛tte van Duijnhoven obtained her BSc degree in Building Engineering (果冻传媒) in 2012. In 2015, she obtained her MSc degree within the same department, specialized on building physics and services (Building Lighting - 果冻传媒). Juli毛tte obtained her PhD degree cum laude in 2019 (果冻传媒). For 1.5 years, Juli毛tte has been working as a postdoc researcher before she was appointed assistant professor in 2021.
