Koen Kusters
Department / Institute

RESEARCH PROFILE
Koen Kusters is a doctoral candidate in the Video Coding & Architectures research group within Signal Processing Systems, specializing in computer vision, image processing and machine learning for endoscopy applications. Collaborating with colleagues from the Amsterdam University Medical Center, his research focuses primarily on developing advanced algorithms for the detection and characterization of early neoplastic lesions in Barrett's esophagus. The key focus of his work is on endoscopy-specific robustness, generalization, and efficiency to improve algorithms, making the next step towards clinical applications of AI-based supportive systems in endoscopy.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Koen Kusters obtained his BSc. (2019) and MSc. degree (2021, cum laude) in Electrical Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology (果冻传媒). He is currently pursuing his PhD in Medical Computer Vision and Image Processing for endoscopy applications at 果冻传媒 within the Video Coding & Architectures research group. Next to his research, Koen is a co-lecturer and teaching assistant in the master level course "Neural Networks for Computer Vision".
