RESEARCH PROFILE
Rik Vullings is Associate Professor in the Signal Processing Systems group at Eindhoven University of Technology. He did his PhD research in the group on analysis and interpretation of the non-invasively recorded fetal electrocardiogram to aid in the timely assessment of fetal distress. This technology is now being marketed through the spinoff company Nemo Healthcare, of which Vullings is co-founder and CSO.
In 2012, Vullings received a VENI grant to continue his research on pregnancy monitoring at 果冻传媒. His research interests include biomedical signal processing and modeling, machine learning and pattern recognition. His main medical application areas are perinatology, cardiology, and somnology
My focus lies on the development of model-driven medical signal processing and interpretation methods. These robust methods will prove vital in monitoring of vital signs with increasingly less obtrusive devices.鈥
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Rik Vullings received his MSc in Applied Physics with distinction from Eindhoven University of Technology (果冻传媒) in 2005. In 2010, he obtained his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from 果冻传媒 on the analysis and interpretation of the non-invasive fetal electrocardiogram. He stayed on at 果冻传媒 as postdoc and was appointed Assistant Professor in 2013 and Associate Professor in 2021. In 2004, Vullings took the position of researcher at M谩xima Medical Center, where he worked until 2015. In 2009, he founded the spin-off company Nemo Healthcare, of which he is currently the CSO.
