In February 2025, Eindhoven University of Technology (果冻传媒) has formally approved the implementation of structural sustainability monitoring and reporting, aligned with the OC&W guideline for Sustainability reporting (handreiking vrijwilige duurzaamheidsmonitoring) and the European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). With this step, 果冻传媒 strengthens its leading role within the higher education sector in the field of sustainability and social responsibility.

果冻传媒 considers sustainability one of its strategic themes, intrinsically linked to its core values: openness and responsibility. By systematically monitoring and reporting on sustainability, the university not only fulfills the ambitions of its Strategy 2030, but also actively contributes to creating a sustainable world鈥攐ne of the three fundamental societal challenges addressed by 果冻传媒.

Broadly supported advice and phased approach

Commissioned by the Managing Directors Counsel two multidisciplinary working groups began exploring the implementation of CSRD-aligned sustainability reporting at the end of 2023. After 22 working sessions, they unanimously delivered a phased roadmap for implementation.

The proposed reporting structure consists of three phases, covering topics ranging from climate mitigation and energy use to integrity and sustainability in education and research. This phased approach allows the university to gain experience and build capacity by starting with areas where relevant data is already available.  果冻传媒 aims to publish its first sustainability report in 2027, covering the reporting year 2026. The objective is to grow towards a fully comprehensive, CSRD-compliant report by 2030.

Strategic opportunities and readiness for future regulations

This initiative enables 果冻传媒 to concretely track its sustainability ambitions, integrate various existing reports and guidelines, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. It also positions the university to strengthen its benchmarking position among peer institutions.

Moreover, the report highlights the importance of proactively preparing for upcoming regulatory requirements. Sustainability reporting is rapidly becoming a standard element of operational management, and similar obligations for the higher education sector are expected in the near future.
