Tech United

Tech United is a team for both students, PhD鈥檚, and employees of Eindhoven University of Technology involved in the development of robotics.

About us

Tech United is a multidisciplinary team of (old) students, PhD鈥檚 and employees of Eindhoven University of Technology which are involved in the development of robotics. Knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and computer algorithms are used to solve problems. The home of Tech United is the RoboCup stadium on the university. Tech United participates at RoboCup with two teams. One team consists of the autonomous soccer robots that participate in the Middle Size League and the other team participates with an autonomous service robot in the @Home league.

Middle Size League

In RoboCup MSL, teams of five autonomous robots play a 2x 15-minute football match using a regular FIFA football. Instructions from the referee are transmitted via WiFi. The basic rules are those of human football, with some adjustments. Teams design their own robots, focusing on mechatronics, control, and collaboration. The robots share strategic data, and their skills make the matches appealing to spectators from both an entertainment and technology perspective.

The Tech United MSL team has already won eight world championships. In 2012 the soccer robots became world champions in Mexico-City for the first time. Last year, they have won the world championship for the eighth time in our own city, Eindhoven.

@HOME

In the RoboCup @Home league, robots are developed to assist with tasks like serving breakfast, storing groceries, and welcoming guests. These robots must navigate busy, ever-changing households and adapt to their surroundings. The Tech United team uses Toyota's HSR robot, allowing them to focus on software development. Their work focuses on areas such as Human-Robot Interaction, Navigation and Mapping in dynamic environments, Computer Vision and Object Recognition.

Our service robot HERO won the world championships two times in 2019 and 2022!
