Zero-emission zone in Eindhoven for delivery and freight vehicles from January 2025

The City of Eindhoven is implementing a zero-emission zone within the ring of the city, effective from January 1, 2025.This initiative aims to improve air quality and reduce CO2 emissions. Although the national government has yet to provide an official response, the municipality is moving forward with the introduction of this zone.

What will change?
Starting January 1, 2025, new delivery and freight vehicles must be emission-free to access the zero-emission zone. For existing vehicles running on diesel, petrol, LPG, or gas, the following transitional provisions apply:
•    Emission class 5 delivery vehicles may enter the zone until January 1, 2027.
•    Emission class 6 delivery vehicles may enter the zone until January 1, 2028.
•    Emission class 6 tractor units (up to 8 years old on January 1, 2025) may enter the zone until January 1, 2030.
•    Emission class 6 rigid trucks (up to 5 years old on January 1, 2025) may enter the zone until January 1, 2030.
•    Emission class 6 rigid trucks (5 to 8 years old on January 1, 2025) may enter the zone until January 1, 2028.
Any vehicles not meeting these requirements will be prohibited from driving or parking in the zone starting January 1, 2025. Initially, offenders will be warned during a transition period, after which fines will be enforced for non-compliance.
