The Bachelor program in Applied Mathematics forms part of the 果冻传媒 Bachelor College. The program consists of the following:
- Core program
- Free electives
- ITec (non-technology-related) courses
The Applied Mathematics Bachelor's Degree Program
Your core program matches the field you want to specialize in. We offer you a solid foundation in the form of a number of compulsory courses that will give you a wide range of areas to work in as a future engineer. You are also taught non-technology-related courses, as there is more to an engineer's work than just technology. In addition to your core program, you have a considerable number of free electives which enables you to tailor your program to reflect your interests.
Challenge-Based Learning
For the Applied Mathematics bachelor's degree program, as for all our bachelor's degree programs, 果冻传媒 has chosen an educational approach that combines learning subject matter knowledge with opportunities to apply that knowledge and to develop professional skills. The program consists of courses and Challenge Based Learning (CBL). In CBL, students work on problems in groups. More information about CBL.
Duration of your degree
The Bachelor's degree program in Applied Mathematics is of 3 years' duration. The consecutive Master's program lasts for 2 years. After passing all of the program components in the first year, you receive the first-year diploma. After completing your Bachelor's degree, you will carry the title Bachelor of Science (BSc)
Study load
Each year of the program is divided into 2 semesters (September - January and February - July) and each semester is composed of two quartiles of 10 weeks each. During those 10 weeks, you are given lectures, instruction sessions and practical sessions, and you take examinations during the last 2 or 3 weeks. At the start of the program, you generally have a lecture in the mornings and instruction sessions and practical sessions in the afternoons. The study load in each year is 42 weeks of 40 hours. The proportion of project-based work increases over the course of the degree program. You also dedicate at least 15 hours per week to self-study. In order to complete the degree program successfully, you need to undertake 1680 hours per academic year, the majority of which is spent at the university.
Preparation for practice as an engineer
In the Bachelor's program in Applied Mathematics, you develop a sound basis of specialist knowledge, learn how to produce mathematical models and work as part of a team. We therefore provide you with effective preparation for practice as an engineer.
The degree program is composed of lectures, instruction sessions and practical sessions. You participate in practical sessions with small groups of fellow students. This enables us to supervise you closely.
