Turn ideas into impact

We believe science comes alive when it makes an impact on society. That’s why we are committed to supporting researchers in the knowledge valorization process. Our goal is the same as yours: to bring your valuable ideas to the places where you know they can make a difference.

Do you want to turn your ideas into impact?

Let us take care of everything

You don’t have to do everything by yourself. We offer complete support, meaning:

  • We work in a fair, transparent and effective manner, so you always know what to expect.
  • We handle all the details around the valorization process, so you can stay focused on your field of expertise.
  • We act swiftly, so you can count on fast responses and turnaround times.

That’s how you make an impact.

How does it work?

Most of the time, the valorization process starts when you spot a chance to make an impact with your ideas. For example, an organization may approach you for academic consultancy, lab rental or professional education. This could be a start-up, a scale-up or a spin off, or a larger, established organization.

Another possibility is that you want to contact a professional about IP or licensing. Or you might want to speak to someone about grants and financing your research.

No matter how it starts, this is where we come in. In a 15-minute phone call, we’ll see if we can be of service. If so, we’ll start immediately by setting up valorization support or providing you with a warm referral — the course of action depends on what you need from us. We’ll loop you in when needed to ensure a quick turnaround time.

Specifically, we help you with:

  • Providing commercial advice
  • Setting up financial structures
  • Communicating with all parties
  • Providing administrative support
  • Providing legal support

Do you want us to help you make an impact? Enjoy our quick process and short turnaround times.

About us

We are a small, departmental organization, focused on helping researchers from the faculty Electrical Engineering make an impact with their ideas. Due to the nature of this approach, we stay easily in touch, and we have direct lines of communication within the faculty. This also means you can count on an honest, transparent and effective process. We take care of everything for you, and we ensure you can get started quickly.

Our team

We want to maximize the societal impact of your ideas

Case Motion Imager

Peter Baltus wanted to work with a start-up by offering academic consulting services. The start-up wanted to highlight their connection to Peter Baltus to reinforce their expertise in their field.

We supported Peter Baltus on multiple levels. For practical matters, we established pricing and drafted a contract. On a more complex level, we set up administrative and legal structures for this partnership.

This means Peter Baltus could focus on consulting for the start-up — all he needed to do was log his hours, as we handled all other administrative and legal work.

Case Remote Labs

We learned from Mark Cox that Will Hendrix and Leyla Özkan had developed a technology with large potential for organizations and educational institutions outside the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ ecosystem. However, adapting this technology for new research projects takes a lot of time and effort.

We are still working on the Remote Labs case. Our current focus is on ensuring all matters regarding Intellectual Property are well taken care of in cooperation with the Gate. We also encourage new research projects to get involved with Remote Labs.

"Valorization Office EE has helped me with taking Remote Labs to the next stage in development. The journey from an idea by an EE researcher to a pilot within EE was the first step, but the real challenge began when Remote Labs showed great potential and the ambition was significantly scaled up. This made the process much more demanding and intensive, requiring close coordination with all stakeholders to achieve effective results. The coordinating effort and leading role of the Valorization Office EE, together with various ¹û¶³´«Ã½ departments, services and the involved researchers, have led to multiple successes. These include further and deeper collaboration with other institutions, a submitted project proposal, and advancements in Remote Labs that enable it to take the next step on the TRL ladder."

NEDAP

Ramiro Serra was contacted by NEDAP. They asked for specialized measurements on electromagnetic interference to help improve their new products.

We provide support for Ramiro Serra on multiple levels. For practical matters, we established pricing and drafted a contract. On a more complex level, we set up administrative and financial structures for this partnership.

This allows Ramiro Serra to focus entirely on his collaboration with NEDAP and his activities for them, as we are handling everything else.

"The Valorization Office EE has been very valuable in helping me negotiate better deals in my consultancy work with companies. Additionally, they’ve helped me think more strategically about long-term research relationships and partnerships with companies. I’m convinced that this strategic approach has the potential to not only enhance the quality of my work but also create more meaningful collaborations that benefit both academia and industry."
