RESEARCH PROFILE
Prof.dr.ir. Yu (Tony) Xiang is a part-time assistant professor at the Electrical Energy Systems group. He works as Principal Scientist at Alliander N.V., a Dutch distribution system operator (DSO). His main research interest is distribution grid digitization and modelling.
Tony is the founder and steering committee member of the open-source project Power Grid Model (). He is facilitating in the EES group the research-to-production process, to implement common research outputs, such as models and algorithms, into mature and production-ready (preferably open-source) software packages.
Tony (co-)supervises the researches in the group regarding grid calculations, modelling, and optimization, including the application of (AI) machine learning models. He facilitates the collaboration between Alliander and 果冻传媒 on new research proposals.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Tony Xiang was born in Nanchang, China, in 1987. He received the BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from Zhejiang University in 2008, the MSc degree in Electrical Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology (果冻传媒) in 2011, and the PhD degree in Electrical Power Engineering from 果冻传媒 in 2015. His PhD research was about distribution grid state estimation, measurement placement, and fault localization. The research was a collaboration between 果冻传媒 and Alliander.
